At the moment I cannot get enough of fruity prints for SS13, they're so fun bright.

What do you think? Will you be a juicy fruit this summer? I am seriously lusting after the Lazy Oaf x Nasty Gal watermelon shorts &
ASOS yellow pineapple bikini

I got sunshineee #OOTD

OOTD 28may

Finally! Some sunshine in Munich. Whilst all of you lovely Brits have been enjoying some rare Bank Holiday sunshine, I've been sat here in head-to-toe winter gear feeling very sorry for myself. So, as soon as the clouds parted & the rays shone down I was out & about soaking up some sun  It also gave me the perfect excuse to wear my new, & very much beloved, Nike air max 1s. I love the colour lime so as soon as I saw these I knew I had to have them (luckily I got them off eBay for a snip of the price, even better!)

I've also decided to sign up to lookbook as I spend so much time perusing it. So, if you like my look, please give it a hype, it would mean a lot to me ☺

Top 5 Beauty Products for Under £5

top 5 under 5

For a bit of a change, this Monday's beauty post is my top 5 under £5. These 5 products are staples of my makeup bag & I would happily pay more than a measly few pounds for each one of them.

1. Accessorize Jet Black Rock Star mascara £5
An incredible lengthening & volumising mascara that comes in this gorgeous packaging

2. MUA Shimmer Kiss highlighter £3
The four shades in this highlighter/bronzer give your complexion a subtle lift & leave your skin looking healthy & lovely

3. MUA Undressed Palette £4
An Urban Decay 'dupe', this bad boy has every neutral shade you could ever need to take your look from day to night

4. Collection 2000 Mosaic Bronzer £2.99
I love the tone of this bronzer, it never leaves me looking orangey & instantly gives me a sun-kissed glow

5. Collection 2000 Fast Stroke liquid eyeliner £2.99
This is the one product which I have never changed from my everyday routine: my favourite ever liquid eyeliner

I didn't realise, until listing them, that I'd only chosen 3 brands but I use all of these products on an almost daily basis. I also think these 5 would be the perfect budget beauty kit for someone who's just getting into makeup or who's looking to revamp their makeup bag.

What are your top 5 beauty products for under £5 a pop? I'd love to hear your suggestions, or if you've done a similar post, leave me the link below :)

Friday I'm in Love: Most Wanted #18

nike liberty title
fiil nike liberty

Nike Air Max 1, so hot right now, & a beautiful British classic, Liberty London. It almost shouldn't work but it so does & thanks to the magic that is Nike iD I managed to design these babies myself. With loads of different Nike styles & even more Liberty fabrics to choose from, go try it yourself (warning: it is quite addictive & at around £100+ per pair could end up being quite a pricey game to play!)

Which design do you prefer? Or which Liberty fabric would you choose for your perfect pair of Nikes?

2013 Book Review - May: The Hunger Games Trilogy

The Hunger Games Trilogy

This month's review (or should that say 'reviews'): The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

I originally picked up The Hunger Games on a whim whilst in Tescos (exciting I know). I didn't get round to reading it for about 2 months, but once I picked it up I could not put it down. Similarly I consumed the following two books, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, until I'd read all three in just over a week. I can't remember the last time I felt so captivated by a book & felt such an urge to read it at every spare moment that I had. The first book is fairly simple in its plot and themes but the sheer horror of children being selected to fight to the death for others' entertainment was truly disturbing to me. In a way this whole idea had already been explored in the Japanese film Battle Royale, but the part that I found most interesting is how the story was continued into a trilogy. Collins, herself, explains that it was never designed to be a trilogy but, in an act of rebellion at the end of The Hunger Games, there is no way that the protagonist, Katniss, could ever be allowed to live "happily ever after". The second and third instalments are essentially one story, bringing an, unsurprisingly, violent and bloody resolution to Katniss's rebellion. The books provide an insight into a believable and hellish dystopia, one of the reasons that the series was so readable.

I deliberately didn't watch the film of The Hunger Games when it came out at the cinema because film adaptations are never quite as good as the book, and having now seen the film, The Hunger Games is no exception. However, I can't say that I'm not looking forward to the film treatment of Catching Fire, out later this year (see the trailer below).

Have you read any of The Hunger Games series? Or seen the first film? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below :)

Monday Review: Benefit They're Real Mascara

It's been doing the rounds in the blogosphere & I have to say I couldn't wait to get my hands on it - this Monday's review:
Benefit They're Real mascara, £19.50 for 8.5g

mon review theyre real

What Benefit say...
They're real! is the UK's No.1 best-selling mascara!*They're real! lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had! What else you need to know:
  • 94% saw dramatic length & volume**
  • 90% saw base-to-tip curl**
  • 94% saw visible lift* 100% saw long-wearing results**
  • 100% saw long-wearing results**
*Source: The NPD Group. Value and Unit Line sales of the Total Prestige Mascara Makeup segment for 2012 Jan to Dec
**Results observed in a consumer panel survey

I really wasn't sure what to expect from this mascara, I almost couldn't believe that it would do what it says but, it did. My lashes looked super long & they still looked just as good after a full day's wear with no flaking or drying. The only thing I didn't like about this mascara was that the first few applications were very wet, if that makes sense? There was a lot of product on the brush which meant my lashes had a tendency to get a bit stuck together, I'm not a fan of the spider lashes look! However, after a few uses the product seemed to be a bit more manageable & now 3 or 4 weeks after purchasing it I really am in love :)

I would give this mascara
I don't know if you would actually mistake my real lashes for falsies but it's about as close as you can get. I love this mascara & despite the price tag I would repurchase it. On the whole I'm not a huge fan of Benefit products but this one is a definite winner.

Have you tried this mascara? What did you think? If you're in the UK, get your hands on a sample with this month's Elle magazine :)

Ted Baker SS13 Blogger Competition

Ted SS13 Comp

As soon as I heard about Ted Baker's SS13 blogger competition I already knew two of the three pieces I wanted to use: this stunning swan print Yonina tunic and these incredible Lissome lime heels. Because these are such statement pieces I didn't want to add any jewellery but I think these Rosalie sunglasses are the ultimate stylish summer accessory. I think this outfit would be perfect for lots of different summer occasions; a summer wedding, drinks with friends, a date, the list is endless! I think hair and makeup are essential to whether this look is casual or dressy, as the pieces are really versatile.

What do you think of the pieces I chose? Let me know in the comments below :)

The Met Ball: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Last night New York saw the annual Met Ball. Beautiful people from around the globe flocked to the city to showcase their take on the Ball's theme of 'Punk Chaos to Couture'. Some fashionistas taking the theme more literally than others, some appearing lost in a fashion-faux-pas haze!

The Good
metball good

Ahh when they're good they're very good. Jennifer, Anne (new do, OHAI!), Cara & Rosie are my top 4 ladies of the night, all of whom looked stunning!

The Bad
metball bad

The title says it all, what were these ladies thinking? I don't know why K-Stew has decided all-in-ones are her go-to look, this one in particular is so unflattering :( likewise, kudos to Madonna for giving the theme 100% but really should a lady of her age be going out in this attire? I think not. Jessica Biel, I'd love this look if it wasn't for the strange leggings; why, Jess? Whyyy? And finally, looking like she got lost in the early 2000s on her way to a tacky nightclub, Gisele. She's so stunning but I can't help but think she looks a little cheap in this outfit.

And finally, The Ugly
met ball ugly

There's almost no words for these ladies' ensembles. On the right we have Karolina Kurkova & Ashley Olsen, but particularly upsetting are Linda Evangelista & Kimmy K (middle left and left). Kim has been criticised throughout her pregnancy for her fashion choices but this just does her no favours. I'm probably bemused more than anything by Linda Evangelista's choice, does this say 'Punk: Chaos to Couture' to any of you? To me it screams 'confused', that or 'wish I was an extra in Game of Thrones'.

What are your thoughts on this year's Met Ball? Who did you think stood out, for the right or wrong reasons?

Monday Review: Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser

This Monday's product appeared in my April favourites (hint as to how much I like it!) Superdrug's Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin, £4.99 for 200ml + muslin cloth.

mon rev 6may

What Superdrug say...
Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser with muslin cloth is ideal for removing dirt and make-up whilst providing gentle exfoliation. This will help improve circulation, leaving skin deeply cleansed, soft and radiant. Enriched with naturally sourced Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that will help to shield your skin against environmental damage and premature skin ageing by combating the harmful effects of free radicals. The rich and creamy formula also contains a skin conditioning multivitamin complex comprising vitamins A, B, F and H, which combined with horse chestnut extract, helps to care for dry skin.

I bought this cleanser whilst I was back in the UK for a few days as I didn't want to take a large bottle of Bioderma cleanser home with me. I saw this in Superdrug & honestly wasn't expecting much but thought I'd give it a go. I'd used Liz Earle's hot cloth cleanser before & really liked it (it's probably the quickest way I've ever managed to remove my makeup) but the Liz Earle product is rather pricey & I just couldn't justify paying that much each time. However, the Superdrug cleanser is a snip of the price at just £4.99 &, in my opinion, it's as good, if not better, than Liz Earle. I much prefer the smell of the Superdrug cleanser, it reminds me of suncream, whereas Liz Earle's is slightly more menthol-y. It also comes in a large, easy to use, squeezy tube which is perfect for quick use, when all you want to do is get your makeup off so you can go to bed!

I would give this product
I was really impressed by this cleanser & would 100% repurchase it. It's super quick & easy to use, & it left my skin feeling soft, smooth & invigorated.

Have you tried this cleanser, or another hot cloth cleanser? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below :)

Monthly Favourites: April

APRIL faves

april favourites

My favourites for April include...

Vitamin E Skin Care Hot Cloth Cleanser by Superdrug (full review coming soon)
I picked this up when I went back to the UK for a few days because I didn't want to travel with a massive bottle of Bioderma cleanser. I've been really impressed so far, full review coming on Monday.

Benefit Fine One One stick blusher
The next three products featured in my latest makeup haul post. See more about them here.

Benefit They're Real mascara

Touche Éclat foundation

Rimmel Apocalips lipgloss in shade Big Bang
This was another product I picked up whilst I was at home. I'd read a lot of hype about the Apocalips lipglosses & I have to say I was very impressed. They're super pigmented & so quick & easy to apply, perfect for a night out.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer
These two MAC products also featured in my makeup haul post, not sure how I could live without them both now, I love them!

MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Pressed Powder

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters in shades Candy Apple, Tutti Frutti, Juicy Papaya & Sugar Frosting
I recently reviewed these lipsticks, you can see more information about them there but I have to say these have now become a staple in my handbag. I usually carry around two of the colours, a lighter & a darker, & think they're perfect for perking up your look throughout the day :)

What were your favourites in April? I'd love to know if any of these products made it onto your favourites list?

Friday I'm in Love: Most Wanted #16

Perhaps not the most Springy of shoes but knowing our weather they're probably more appropriate than they first seem:
the always fabulous, Dr Martens.

FIIL 3may

I had my first pair about age 8 & still have 3 pairs in my wardrobe today, I love Dr Martens! I especially love the pairs with the small heel, I think they'd be perrrrfect for a summer festival. And how cute are the white & silver brogue boots? Dr M, you dark horse :)

What do you think?
