Friday I'm in Love: Most Wanted #26

ASOS embroidered dress
Where to buy...

I think this embroidered ASOS dress is just stunning. The pattern, the colours, the fact that the whole thing is completely embroidered... uh I love it! Within the past week or so this dress has virtually sold out in every size, perhaps I'm not the only one enraptured by it!

*GOOD NEWS* I received an email this morning (1st Sept) saying that this bad boy was back in stock, hurray!

Nike Air Max 1s

Where to buy...

Call me crazy but I want these Air Max 1s sooo much! I feel like they have loads of features which should make them awful but I just absolutely love them. I'm already thinking how nice they'd look for winter (I know, I have issues!) I love my other neon green Air Max 1s so much that I've managed to convince myself that I need these :/ does anyone else have that problem? Please comment so I know I'm not the only one!

♡ Style Crush ♡ - Stacie Stewart

You may or may not recognise this pint-sized northern beauty from TV programmes such as Masterchef and This Morning but, although it would be nice to, I'm not here to praise Ms Stacie Stewart for her prowess in the kitchen, I'm here to talk about Stacie Stewart the fashion icon.

From her giant beehive, to cute as a button loafers & wide-eyed make-up look, I love everything about Stacie's style. I love her mix of 1960s shift dresses with Fred Perry polo shirts & v-neck knits; she always looks incredibly put together & unique.

Reading her website, Stacie details of where she picks up her incredible wardrobe (most of it being vintage or tailor made *sigh*). However, in the newest pieces, making their way into stores as we speak, AW13/14, at stores such as Zara, seems to be heralding the 60s look; with beautiful cocoon coats in sugary pastels & to-die-for leather loafers, Stacie's look just became that little bit more accessible :)

Monday Review: Bioderma Sensibio H2O Cleanser with Pump Cap

This Monday I'm revisiting an old favourite, Bioderma's Sensibio H2O cleanser. For a full review of the actual cleanser, click here - today's post is a review of the special edition pump cap (see below).

A comparison of the standard 500ml bottle & the 500ml pump cap bottle

Apparently this cap is limited edition, something I wasn't aware of when buying it, and also refillable, although I'm not sure I'd bother to be honest. I bought this thinking it would be a much easier way to dispense the product, without unnecessarily wasting any, however, it took me quite a while to get used to the pump action. If, like me, you like a fair bit of product on your cotton wool to wipe the day away, the pump actually makes it harder to use. If you press too hard the cleanser squirts upwards & goes everywhere, if you press more gently it then takes a long time to soak your cotton wool *why?!*. All in all this is a really nice idea but I don't think I'd bother repurchasing it as it's just confirmed that I much prefer the standard cap; if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I would give the Bioderma pump cap bottle

Have you tried the Sensibio cleanser with this cap? What did you think? I know Lisa Eldridge has said she found the pump really useful when using this product on photo shoots, & I can see the appeal, but personally I just don't think it's worth paying the extra money for.

Queen of the Jungle
Where to buy...

This dress has been seen on so many people (I even spotted it on the U Bahn today in Munich).
But I don't care if there's someone wearing it on every street corner, I still love it. Purr!

2013 Book Review - August: Where Rainbows End

Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern

I have to start by addressing this book's cover, it is hideous, truly awful. It isn't until I've come to write this review that I even realised what the cover looked like -- a sugary image, promising love & sparkle -- pass me a bucket! Whilst it's true we shouldn't judge books by their covers, literally, I, luckily, read this on the Kindle & so had no awful cover image to put me off.

This book was recommended to me by a friend, I decided, given Ahern's reputation, that it would probably be a fairly easy read & therefore perfect for my holiday, in this respect I was right. However, this book is more than a sloppily written love story of fate & "true love", it is an interesting observation of the every day mundanity of human life, how love fits into that & how your life won't always take the course you think it will. This book is by no means a ground-breaking social commentary, but it is a lot better than the cover suggests.

The whole narrative is told through notes, letters, cards, text messages and e-mails. At first I thought it would be incredibly frustrating reading a whole novel like this, however, I soon got into it & as the story develops, and the protagonists get older, it actually becomes a very clever & intriguing way to unfold the plot. Yes, there is a love story, and yes, it does end "nicely", but this book, for me, was very true to life. There were parts that I could really relate to, such as losing a relative or experiencing disappointment when your life's plan doesn't quite work out, but it was also incredibly hopeful & showed that even when you are at your lowest there's always a different path to take, or another way you can improve your situation.

I'm not sure if I would want to read another of Cecelia Ahern's books, however, I would recommend this to other people, especially if, like me, they were looking for an easy holiday read.

Have you read any of Cecelia Ahern's books? What did you think?

Monday Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

This week: Rimmel's Wake Me Up concealer, £5.49 for 7ml.

Rimmel WMU concealer

What Rimmel say...
Rimmel's first full coverage concealer. Instant anti-fatigue effect with peptides and vitamin moisturising complex. Visibly reawakens and illuminates under the eyes. Completely conceals spots and other blemishes.
I bought this as a last minute, cheap concealer to take on holiday & it's probably turned out to be one of the best spur of the moment purchases I've ever made. Originally I wanted to buy Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer, as I'd heard a lot of good things about it, however, alas in Birmingham airport's departure lounge it just wasn't to be. I'm a huge fan of other Rimmel products, however, for some reason I wasn't expecting too much from this concealer, which may be one of the reasons why I love it so much. I bought shade 010 Ivory which is perfect for brightening up my under eye area & covering any darkness. I didn't realise the coverage would be so good; the formula is extremely light & blendable yet the coverage is incredible, really full without looking at all cakey (the photos above show how thick the formula is). This is the perfect partner to use with Dior's Diorskin BB Creme, covering any extra redness that the BB cream doesn't quite cover.

I cannot rave about this concealer enough, I would give it ☆+
This easily gives as much coverage as my MAC Studio Finish concealer, but in a much lighter formula & a much easier application. This concealer really is the shiz!

Have you tried Rimmel's Wake Me Up concealer? What did you think?

Monday Review: Diorskin Nude BB Creme - Dior BB Cream

This week I'm reviewing a product I've lusted after for a long time: Dior's Diorskin Nude BB Creme in shade 002, £30 for 30ml.

dior bb
dior bb 2

What Dior say...
Nude glow, skin-perfecting beauty balm FPS 10 SPF - PA +
A dream combination of skincare and make-up, Diorskin Nude BB Creme is the new generation complexion enhancer. Its light, melting texture enriched with natural origin skincare ingredients conceals only the undesirable and adjusts perfectly to all skin tones. In a single step, Diorskin Nude BB Creme combines 5 indispensable actions in order to accentuate a fresh complexion with an astoundingly natural finish: corrects transparently, lights up the skin with a fresh glow, gently hydrates, instantly smooths, protects day after day. For skin as fresh and radiant as a Rose, by Dior.

This is the first BB cream that I've tried & not thought was a complete waste of time. All the western BB creams tend to be so thin & runny, much more of a tinted moisturiser than anything that's going to actually provide you with some decent coverage. The Diorskin Nude BB Creme is completely different, it's a medium-full coverage foundation-like BB cream. I have a lot of redness across my nose & so I always look for a fairly good coverage foundation but this BB cream is perfect, it covers all redness & has much better staying power than any of the other foundations I use (for reference they are: Bourjois Healthy Mix, Rimmel Match Perfection, & NARS Sheer Glow). The only thing I have found with this BB cream is that it's not as moisturising as I was expecting, I have to wear moisturiser under this, however, my skin is fairly dry so an oily skin may be able to skip this step. Straight from the pump, the BB cream's texture is light and really smooth, it's a beaut to rub into your skin, however, I found it has a Double Wear stay put kind of formula to it, meaning you have to work fairly quickly once it starts to 'set'. I use my fingers to apply this, patting over areas where I'd like a little bit fuller coverage & once it starts to set I blend any edges with a Sigma flat top stippling brush. I love the packaging, it's sleek yet light-weight (much like the actual product) & the little pump makes application really easy.

I would give the Diorskin Nude BB Creme
I've been so impressed by how good the coverage & longevity of this product is, often performing much better than traditional foundations. It comes in three shades, 001 which is a light, pink-toned shade, 002 (the one I have) which is a yellow-toned slightly darker shade - this was a bit darker than all my other foundations, however, it was perfect for on holiday/when I'd caught the sun a little bit - plus the third shade, 003, which I haven't swatched, unfortunately. The shade range is a little bit disappointing especially if you have very light or very dark skin, however, if you're somewhere in between like me, I'd definitely recommend this, it's worth every penny!

Have you tried this BB cream? What did you think?
