If there's one book you must read... Week #24

Book #24 -- Where We Belong by Emily Giffin

This week's book has been chosen/suggested slightly differently. The other day I saw Kristen Cavallari (of The Hills/Laguna Beach fame for those of you who are cool like me & remember ;)) tweet about a book that she was really enjoying & I thought it would be a different take on the 'one book you must read' posts.

So, what does Kristen say?

Amazon blurb: 'Marian Caldwell is a television producer, living her dream in New York City. With a fulfilling career and relationship, she has convinced everyone, including herself, that her life is just as she wants it to be. But one night, Marian answers a knock on the door . . . only to find Kirby Rose, an eighteen-year-old girl with a key to a past that Marian thought she had sealed off forever. From the moment Kirby appears on her doorstep, Marian's perfectly constructed world-and her very identity-will be shaken to its core, resurrecting memories of a passionate young love affair that threaten everything that has come to define her.
For the precocious and determined Kirby, the encounter will force her to re-evaluate her family and future. As the two women embark on a journey to find the one thing missing in their lives, each will come to recognize that where we belong is often where we least expect to find ourselves -- a place that we may have willed ourselves to forget, but that the heart remembers forever.
[...] Kirby is adopted. She loves her parents and her sister Charlotte, but she's never really felt she fitted in. And now she's eighteen there's nothing to stop her finding her birth mother. But navigating her way, alone, to New York is only the start - and as Marian soon discovers, giving birth is the easy part. This is a story of what it means to be a mother, a daughter, a lover - and of how secrets have a way of multiplying.'

Have you ever read anything by Emily Giffin? I'd not heard of her, or this book, but it sounds really interesting & I always wanted to provide a range of titles to suit everyone so if The Game of Thrones series or Thomas Hardy aren't for you, perhaps something like this is?

If you have a suggestion for a brilliant 'must read' book let me know either in the comments below or via twitter :)
