Why not try...

... colour-coding your bookshelf? I have too many books on mine & it's hard to decide how to arrange them, by author? genre? year of publication? To me all of those seem boring & not particularly aesthetically pleasing. I think your bookcase should not only reflect your reading tastes but also be a beautiful feature of your room, therefore colour-coding is poifect!

Currently I have only tried this on one shelf of my bookcase, using blacks, silvers, beiges, yellows and blues. I think it works really well, especially on a larger scale like the last photo.
